Our Vineyard

Our Vineyard

We grow our grapes on seven hectares of lush, fertile land in one of the most beautiful regions of Provence, Petite Luberon.

The area is known for producing exquisite rosé wines due to its unique location – set between the ocean and mountains, and surrounded by extensive olive groves. As a result, the land is rich in minerals and is particularly calcareous, which contributes to the incredibly smooth flavour of the grapes.

THE SECRET INGREDIENTS

WORK ON OUR 2014 VINTAGE 01 1024x685 - Our Vineyard

THE SOIL

The Luberon land is rich in minerals and very calcareous. The ground is made up of limestone scree, high in nutrients that aides growth and produces sweet flavoured grapes. The soil quality is both sandy and contains clay which contributes to the bold yet elegant, highly aromatic notes in the wine.

THE GRAPES

3 varieties of grape are assembled together to produce the wine; grenache (orange/yellow colour), syrah (pink/red colour) and clairette (white/green colour).

The balance is 50% grenache, 30% syrah, 20% clairette.

THE WEATHER

The grapes are picked early in the morning, as the darkness ensures the maximum freshness in flavour. Only the best grapes are selected from the harvest plot. Once picked, the grapes a pressed in direct light.

The area gets the sun throughout the year, for the rosé wines, this can lead to more feminine white wines.

THE LAND

The land lies between the sea and mountains and olive groves (Marseille, Southern Alps, Alpilles, Ventoux) contributing to the smooth flavour of the wine.

Ethically Sourced – Lovingly Grown

The art of wine-making comes down to the land or terroir. Subtle nuances of minerals and types of soil have a very dramatic effect on the flavour of the wine.  France is historically a leader in vinoculture, producing Old World wine for generations. The Luberon is a wine region nestled in Provence, South of France and is a producer of world class, sophisticated, dry rosé wines.

FROM VINE TO GLASS 02 - Our Vineyard

The vineyard is located just outside Oppède, next to the Davies’ family home in Ménerbes. The land produces the most stunning wine in this area that was inspiration for Peter Mayle’s classic novel “A Year In Provence”. Domaine des Jeanne is not just about our stunning wine, but also the sophisticated and elegant Provencal lifestyle associated with the area.
